06-20-2013 Lake Toho Kayak Trip

June 21, 2013  •  1 Comment

I love being in my kayak on the water in Florida, but you already know that.  Snail Kite is the usual target species when going to Lake Toho, but I only found 1 on this trip.  Fortunately, there were vast areas of Water Lilies and Yellow Lotus to enjoy.  As a bonus, when returning to the launch, there were several Swallow-tailed Kites soaring and feasting on the bounty of dragonflies.

No wonder you only saw one kite. They are up here on the Waccamaw River. Everytime we take the boat out, we see at least two. We do not have a lens that will capture what you get, but we will try to get a shot. We do have an abundance of Osprey. This Spring, we had Wood Storks nesting in the trees right near Wacca Wache Marina on the Waccamaw River. You are the best photographer!! We always love looking at your newest photos. Thanks for doing these so the rest of us can see what you see !!
