As usual, I decided about midnight on my destination for a Saturday morning shoot. Bok Tower Gardens, Lake Wales, FL. Bok Tower is a 205 foot tower built on one of the highest points in Florida, with a 60 bell Singing Tower carillon. The Tower is surrounded by gardens designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, Jr. This is a beautiful and tranquil place to visit and a haven for native and migrating birds. Although there were many Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, which is the species that is most seen on the east coast, I concentrated on a female Rufous Hummingbird, which is a rare migrant from the west coast of North America. If you have never been, I highly recommend it.
