10-07-2012 Turkey Creek

October 07, 2012  •  1 Comment

I had thought about going to Bok Towers this morning, but it is too far and I wouldn't have time for a nap before the SpaceX launch tonight.  Instead I went to Turkey Creek in Palm Bay, to look for migrant warblers.  The canopy was alive with warblers early, but light was poor and they were too high up.  By the time the light got good, the birds were not to be found.  I did get a good shot of a Manatee that was swimming along and sticking his head up to eat grass off the bank.  I also took advantage of an opportunity to hang out with a Gopher Tortoise while he enjoyed some wet grass for Sunday brunch.  The only warbler that I got a decent shot of is a Black-throated Blue - female.

What great shots. The squirrel with the nut looks like a painting!! The tortoise even has a piece of grass in his mouth. Your pictures really tell a story. The mannatee shot...all of them. You are just sooo good!!!!
